David Dye confirmed as Cabinet Secretary at DHSEM  

Dye was appointed by Governor Lujan Grisham in May 2022 

SANTA FE  On Wednesday, the New Mexico Senate confirmed Secretary-Designate David Dye as Secretary of the New Mexico Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management. Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham appointed Dye as Secretary-Designate on May 16, 2022.

“I’m honored to have been confirmed as Secretary for the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management” said Secretary David Dye. “From training and preparedness, to disaster response and recovery to Homeland Security and the State Fire Marshal’s office, the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management helps keep New Mexicans safe and I’m proud to lead this critical agency and work with such dedicated and hard-working professionals.”

“I’m incredibly grateful for Secretary Dye’s commitment and service to the people of New Mexico,” said Gov. Michelle Lujan Grisham. “Under his leadership, the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management will continue its critical work to keep New Mexicans safe.”

Before joining the Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management, Secretary Dye worked at the Santa Fe County Emergency Management office, where he crafted the county’s new emergency operations plan and led a large-scale wildfire exercise. He previously served as a Navy director of training in Florida, where he led the Navy’s preparation and response for hurricanes Dorian and Isaias in 2019 and 2020. He also served in several overseas roles with the U.S. Navy, most recently as the Director of Strategy for the U.S. Naval Forces in Europe and Africa from 2017 to 2019.
