State Hazard Mitigation Manager (DHSEM #17941)

Salary
$39.11 – $62.58 Hourly

Position coordinates and performs complex professional work in developing, coordinating and administering statewide hazard mitigation planning and project programs. Position identifies and promotes structural and non-structural mitigation practices in an effort to reduce the short and long-term adverse impacts of natural hazard events. Serves as the State Project Officer for the FEMA Hazard Mitigation Assistance grants (Grant Program, Pre-Disaster Mitigation Program and Flood Mitigation Assistance Program). Position provides programmatic grant management from application and implementation to close-out. Position provides technical assistance throughout sub-grant project life from assisting with the identification of viable projects that will alleviate future damages, through providing oversight of the development of a project application, ensuring compliance with program policy and professional design standards, conducting site visits during construction to ensure all approved project plans are followed, reimbursement processing and close-out. Serves as the principal staff advisor on the State Hazard Mitigation Program, State Earthquake Program and State Floodplain Management Program. Position supervises mitigation personnel.

Support homeowners and the Senior Coordinator in navigating zoning, permitting, and construction processes that are essential to rebuilding homes post-disaster.

This position will:

  • Provide direct support to residents on planning processes.
  • Maintain permit logs and conducts site visits.
  • Track construction progress and assist with inspections.
  • Support procurement compliance and eligibility checks.
  • Prepare public education materials.

All-Hazard Incident Management Team Program Manager (DHSEM #10110490)

The purpose of this position is to work on program or project management and coordination of the Statewide Hazardous
Materials Program. Duties include:
– overseeing Hazardous Materials Emergency Preparedness grant application, award, and sub-grant flow-through funding
process
– coordinating the federally mandated Emergency Planning and Community Right to Know Act (EPCRA) Program
– providing meeting support to the State Emergency Response Commission (SERC),
– providing meeting support to the State Hazardous Materials Safety Board
– overseeing annual Tier II hazardous materials reporting for the state
